Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 3:48 PM EST Feb. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of New York and southern Vermont, including the
following areas, in New York, Hamilton, Montgomery, northern
Fulton, northern Herkimer, northern Saratoga, northern Warren,
northern Washington, southeast Warren, southern Fulton,
southern Herkimer, and southern Washington. In southern
Vermont, Bennington, eastern Windham, and western Windham.

* Through Sunday evening

* a strong cold front will track eastward across our region
through this evening with moderate to heavy rainfall from
showers and scattered thunderstorms, possibly exceeding one inch
in some areas with the heaviest rainfall across the southern
Adirondacks. The combination of rain and snow melt is expected
to produce enhanced runoff into area rivers, resulting in possible
minor flooding this weekend. Flooding is also possible in poor
drainage and low lying areas, especially where snow and Leaf
litter blocks storm drains.

* Areas of the western Mohawk Valley, the upper Hudson, the
southern Adirondacks, Lake George Saratoga region and southern
Vermont are the most vulnerable to minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
