Issued: 11:40 PM EDT May. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 3 am EDT Friday...

* locations... includes the Massachusetts East Coast including Nantucket.

* Tidal departure... three quarters to a foot.

* Timing... late evening high tide generally between 1100 PM and 1 am.

* Coastal flood impacts... widespread minor coastal flooding will occur
tonight. Splashover and beach erosion at typically prone flood spots.
Shoreline roads may be impacted. Biggest concern is across Essex County
which will see the highest surge values.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory is issued for minor coastal flooding of the most
vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the height of storm tide or wave
splashover. The majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures.
There is no significant threat to life... and impact on property is minimal.



Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 3 am EDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a dense fog
advisory, which is in effect until 3 am EDT Friday.

* Location... Cape Cod and the islands.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing... this evening and into the overnight hours.

* Impacts... poor visibility at times. Motorist are urged to drive
with extra caution and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile, for at least 3 hours. If
driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of
distance ahead of you.

... Very heavy rainfall affecting eastern Connecticut... Rhode
Island... southeast Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the
islands...

At 1120 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms with
very heavy rain along a line extending from Griswold to 18 miles
east of Block Island to 30 miles south of Nantucket. Movement was
north at 45 mph.

Locations impacted include...
Worcester, Providence, New Bedford, Fall River, Warwick, Cranston,
Pawtucket, Plymouth, Taunton, East Providence, Woonsocket,
Shrewsbury, Coventry, Dartmouth, Cumberland, North Providence,
Franklin, South Kingstown, West Warwick and Johnston.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive through flooded roads or underpasses. Avoid low lying
areas near small streams.

Frequent lightning was occurring. Lightning can strike far away from
the storm. Go inside a building or vehicle. Wait at least 30 minutes
until after the storm has passed to resume outdoor activities.
