Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 1:51 PM AST Mar. 1, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High rip current risk remains in effect through Thursday afternoon...

* location... northwest and northeast Puerto Rico, Culebra,
Vieques and the north and east coasts of Saint Croix.

* Timing... through Thursday afternoon.

* Impacts... strong currents that can carry even the best
swimmers out to sea.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards... beach patrol
flags and signs.
