The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
the yentna river at Lake Creek in the Susitna Valley.
* Until 1045 PM akdt Thursday
* at 1045 am akdt... the river observer reported the yentna at Lake
Creek has exceeded flood stage and is still rising as a result of
recent and ongoing rainfall and minor flooding is occurring along
the river. Low-lying areas along the river are inundated. Levels
have risen almost 5 feet since Monday morning and are expected to
crest tomorrow above moderate flood stage before beginning to fall
slowly towards the end of the week. Water levels on the yentna
river could reach similar levels experienced earlier in August.
Minor to moderate flooding of low lying areas will continue over the
next 24 to 48 hours as yentna river levels exceed flood stage before
starting to fall slowly. Additional rainfall of another inch is
expected over the area through tomorrow afternoon. River users
should be prepared for continued rising water levels and an increase
in debris moving downstream.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water is occurring or is imminent. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads.
