Issued: 3:13 AM EST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
southern Hamilton County in eastern Tennessee...

* until 515 am EST

* at 312 am EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
One to two inches of rain has alraedy fallen, with additional
rainfall possible over the next couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chattanooga, Soddy-Daisy, Signal Mountain, Walden, Lakesite,
Ridgeside, Harrison, Fairmount, Red Bank, Collegedale, Lookout
Mountain, Ooltewah, Middle Valley, East Brainerd, Mowbray mountain,
East Ridge, Harrison Bay S.P., Falling Water and north Chickamauga
creek gorge.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
