Wind Advisory
Issued: 12:09 PM PST Dec. 3, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MST /8 PM PST/ this
evening...

* affected area... the lower Colorado River valley including the Yuma
and Martinez Lake area... eastern Riverside County... Joshua Tree
National Park... and Imperial County. This includes Interstate 8
from Yuma to the coastal mountains and Interstate 10 from Blythe
toward the Coachella Valley.

* Timing... through 8 PM PST /9 PM MST/ tonight.

* Winds... north winds around 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Impacts... strong Crosswinds on east/west oriented roads and locally
reduced visibilities due to areas of blowing dust creating
hazardous driving conditions. High profile vehicles most
susceptible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between
30 and 40 mph are expected... or wind gusts of between 40 and
58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially
for high profile vehicles. In addition... strong winds over desert
areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under
a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra
caution.
