The National Weather Service in Reno has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
Placer County in central California...
Nevada County in northern California...

* until 1130 am PDT Tuesday

* minor flooding continues along the upper portions of the Truckee
River from Tahoe City downstream to the confluence with the little
Truckee River below Boca Reservoir. The increased flows are a
combination of releases from Lake Tahoe and snowmelt.

* Sections of the bike path along Highway 89 will remain flooded
through the Memorial Day weekend. Campgrounds, backyards and
basements along the river near Highway 89 may be inundated by the
high flows.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The Truckee River will run fast and very cold, bringing the risk of
hypothermia for those without protective gear. Those with plans to
use campgrounds along the Truckee River over the Memorial Day
weekend should be prepared to quickly leave if high flows inundate
the campsite.

... The flood advisory for snowmelt remains in effect until 145 PM PDT
Thursday for alpine and Douglas counties...

* minor flooding impacts will begin in parts of the Carson Valley
late Tuesday and continue through Thursday.

* Warming temperatures will cause increased snowmelt this week. This
increased snowmelt will raise flows in both the East Fork Carson
and West Fork Carson rivers.

* The increased flows will result in minor flooding along portions
of the West Fork Carson below Woodfords and into the Carson
Valley. This flooding will be confined mainly to farm and ranch
lands near the river, but a few rural roads could be impacted.

* Flows are likely to be highest during the overnight hours before
falling during the morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
