Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 3:26 PM MST Feb. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 am Monday to midnight
MST Tuesday night...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow, which is in
effect from 6 am Monday to midnight MST Tuesday night. The Winter
Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations include... Silverton... Telluride... Rico... Dallas
Divide... Crested Butte... Taylor Park.

* Timing... snow is expected to start over the higher peaks prior
to sunrise on Monday and become widespread and lower in
elevation throughout the day. Snow... heavy at times... will then
continue into Tuesday evening.

* Snow accumulation... 12 to 18 inches.

* Winds... southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph
above 9500 feet Monday through Tuesday morning. Winds gradually
turn westerly then northwest and decrease Tuesday afternoon.

* Visibility... less than one half mile in moderate to heavy snow
and blowing snow.

* Impacts... heavy snowfall and strong winds will quickly create
hazardous driving conditions. Mountain roadways will be icy to
snowpacked at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
