Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 4:57 PM CDT Apr. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT Sunday for
Calhoun County in southwestern Illinois... Pike County in west central
Illinois... Ralls County in northeastern Missouri... Lincoln County in
east central Missouri... eastern Audrain County in central Missouri...
Montgomery County in east central Missouri... Marion County in
northeastern Missouri... Warren County in east central Missouri... Pike
County in northeastern Missouri and northern Gasconade counties in
east central Missouri...

At 455 PM CDT, law enforcement and the department of transporation
continued to report flooding across the area. This flooding is the
result of runoff from 3 to 5 inches of rainfall that has fallen
since late Friday. Flooding will continue on area creeks, streams,
poor drainage areas, and roads which are often subject to minor
flooding. Showers and thunderstorms this evening could produce up to
another 1 inch of rainfall, which would aggravate existing
conditions.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hannibal, Troy, Warrenton, Bowling Green, Pittsfield, Vandalia,
Palmyra, Louisiana, Wright City, Montgomery City, Monroe City,
Hermann, Elsberry, Wellsville, Warren, Moscow Mills, Winfield, Barry,
Griggsville and Davis.

This also includes deutschheim historic site, Cuivre River State
Park, and Graham Cave State Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
