Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:19 PM MDT Jul. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
southeastern Sierra County in north central New Mexico...
north central Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico...

* until 1015 PM MDT

* at 718 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Upham...
and Jornada range.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
