Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 8:06 PM MDT Aug. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Denver Colorado has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Jefferson County in central Colorado...
west Central Adams County in northeastern Colorado...

* until 1100 PM MDT

* at 803 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms extending from the Federal Heights area and then
south and southwest into the Golden area. These storms will
produce between one half and 1.5 inches of rain in 30 minutes.
This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in the advisory
area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lakewood... southwestern Thornton... Arvada... Westminster...
northern Littleton... southwestern Northglenn... Wheat Ridge...
Golden... Federal Heights... Morrison...
Chatfield Reservoir and Red Rocks Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Do not drive into areas where water covers the Road. Turn around
and find an alternate Route... or wait until waters recede.
