Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 4:01 AM EST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday morning through late
Sunday night...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
Winter Storm Watch, which is in effect from Sunday morning
through late Sunday night.

Hazardous weather...

* a long duration of light to moderate snow will affect the area,
resulting in storm total snowfall of 5 to 9 inches by late
   Sunday night.

* Light snow will begin between 5 am and 9 am. The highest
intensity snow is expected Sunday afternoon and evening. The
moisture content of the snow will also increase during the
course of the afternoon and evening.

* There is still uncertainty in the intensity of this storm
system as it moves into the region. This will have a large
   impact on storm total snowfall.

Impacts...

* roads will likely become snow covered and slick, impacting
   travel across the area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.

Special Statement
Issued: 11:02 AM EST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow showers to persist into the afternoon...

Lake effect snow showers will continue to track across portions of
Southeast Michigan into the afternoon hours. Through 1 PM... the
coverage of snow showers will be greatest between the M-59 and
I-69 corridor. The potential exists for brief bursts of heavier
snow showers... particularly across this corridor. Any heavier
bursts may result in a quick accumulation of light snow on area
roads. In addition... reduction of visibility below 1 mile will be
possible. Motorists should remain aware of possible changes in
driving conditions today.
