The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
southern Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...
southern Lea County in southeastern New Mexico...

* until 930 PM MDT

* at 634 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carlsbad, Eunice, Jal, Loving, Queen, Avalon, Living Desert State
Park, Eunice Airport, Malaga, Jal Airport, halfway, Oil Center,
Carlsbad north, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Whites City,
Lincoln National Forest, Otis, Cavern City Air Terminal, Bennett
and Lake Avalon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Loving counties until 915 PM CDT/815 PM MDT/...

At 828 PM CDT/728 PM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong
thunderstorm 12 miles southeast of Jal Airport, or 12 miles northeast
of Kermit, moving southeast at 25 mph.

Dime size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Odessa, Pecos, Monahans, Kermit, Jal, Wink, west Odessa, Orla,
Mentone, Wickett, Thorntonville, Barstow, Goldsmith, Pyote, Monahans
sandhills State Park, Jal Airport, Penwell, Red Bluff Reservoir,
Winkler County Airport and Notrees.

This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 33 and 120.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 100 am
