Watches & Warnings

Marine Fog Advisory, Small Craft Advisory, Gale Watch
Issued: 2:28 PM CST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 4 am CST Saturday...
... Small Craft Advisory in effect from 6 PM Saturday to 6 PM CST
Sunday...
... Gale watch remains in effect from Sunday evening through late
Sunday night...

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a dense fog
advisory... which is in effect until 4 am CST Saturday. A Small
Craft Advisory has also been issued. This Small Craft Advisory is
in effect from 6 PM Saturday to 6 PM CST Sunday.

* Winds... increasing to 25 to 30 knots with frequent gusts above
gale force.

* Waves/seas... becoming rough to very rough.

* Visibility... areas of poor visibility less than one nautical mile.
Visibility should improve west of Pensacola by 4 am CST as showers
and thunderstorms develop.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased... but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one mile. Inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid
navigating in these conditions.
