High Wind Warning
Issued: 3:50 PM AKST Dec. 3, 2016 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 am akst Sunday
through Thompson Pass and Valdez...

* wind... north to northeast winds 40 to 55 mph with gusts to 75
mph. Gusts as high as 80 to 90 mph are possible through
Thompson Pass.

* Wind chill... through the pass... wind chills values will drop
to 30 to 40 below zero this evening through Monday morning.

* Blowing snow... blowing snow may reduce visibility to a half
mile or less at times near the top of Thompson Pass.

* Timing... winds will continue to increase this evening and
remain very strong overnight before gradually diminishing Sunday
morning.

* Impacts... travel may be difficult. Loose debris can be moved
and damage property. Boats and aircraft should be well
secured.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. People are urged to secure loose objects that could
be blown around or damaged by the wind.
