Blizzard Warning
Issued: 3:30 PM AKST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning in effect from 9 am to 9 PM akst Thursday
through Thompson Pass...
... Wind Chill Advisory is cancelled through Thompson Pass...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Blizzard
Warning... which is in effect from 9 am to 9 PM akst Thursday. The
Wind Chill Advisory has been cancelled.

* Location... Thompson Pass.

* Snow... 5 to 8 inches.

* Visibility... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Wind... northeast 35 to 50 mph.

* Timing... northeast winds will strengthen slightly from current
levels Thursday morning. Snow will develop by mid-morning
Thursday and intensify by Thursday afternoon. Conditions will
begin to improve by late Thursday evening as snow tapers off.
However strong winds will continue to produce blowing snow and
reduced visibilities.

* Impacts... snowfall combined with strong winds and blowing snow
will produce white-out conditions. Driving will be very
difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to white-out
conditions... making travel very difficult. All travel and outdoor
activity is strongly discouraged.
