... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Alabama and northwest Florida, including the
following areas, in Alabama, Baldwin central, Baldwin coastal,
Baldwin inland, Covington, Escambia, Mobile central, Mobile
coastal, and Mobile inland. In northwest Florida, Escambia
coastal, Escambia inland, Okaloosa coastal, Okaloosa inland,
Santa Rosa coastal, and Santa Rosa inland.

* Through late tonight

* numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue into this
afternoon across areas south and east of the Interstate 65
corridor. Another round of storms is likely after midnight
tonight. These storms have the potential of producing 1 to 3
inches of rain in a short time, which may lead to localized
flash flooding, particularly in urban areas. Localized higher
totals are possible along and south of Interstate 10.

* Urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas will be the most
susceptible to flash flooding. Road closures are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
central Mobile County in southwestern Alabama...

* until 130 PM CDT

* at 1027 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain falling due to
thunderstorms across the Mobile Metro area. Doppler radar shows
between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain could fall in an hour's time
across central Mobile County in developing bands of showers and
thunderstorms. This could result urban and small stream flooding
in the advisory area through early afternoon.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Midtown Mobile, downtown Mobile, Prichard, Tillmans Corner,
Saraland, Theodore, Chickasaw, i65 and i165, i65 and al 158, Mobile
regional Airport and i10 and i65.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
