... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 am MST
Friday...

* impacts... snow covered and slick roads and reduced visibility
from falling and blowing snow, creating hazardous driving
conditions.

* Timing... snow, heavy at times especially along and north of
Interstate 86 this morning and along and south of Interstate
86 tonight and Friday morning. Increasing westerly winds this
afternoon through this evening.

* Snow accumulations... additional snow accumulations of 3 to 7
inches, highest along the Interstate 86 corridor and southern
mountains.

* Confidence... timing, medium to high. Amounts and location of
heaviest snowfall, low to medium.

* Locations... Pocatello, American Falls, Fort Hall, Blackfoot.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and
water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.





Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 11:15 AM MST Feb. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
snowmelt in...
southwestern Cassia County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1100 am MST Monday

* local law officials reported continued low land flooding along
Goose Creek leading into Oakley Reservoir. Several bridges have
washed out as well. Though cooler temperatures are expected,
continued snow melt is likely especially with several inches of
snow in the forecast. Snow will start this evening through
Thursday. Temperatures will gradually start to rise Saturday and
daytime temperatures will approach the 40s by Monday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Oakley Reservoir.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are many low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
rain and snowmelt in...
southeastern Blaine County in central Idaho...
Lincoln County in south central Idaho...
Minidoka County in south central Idaho...

* until 1145 am MST Thursday

* at approx. 10:00 am MST, emergency management officials reported
reported continued flooding for mainly northern and eastern
Lincoln County as well as southeast Blaine County. Widespread
flooding continues for Minidoka County too. Additional rain on
snow and saturated ground as well as windy conditions will create
additional low-lying flooding this afternoon through the evening.
A cool down and overall dry period Wednesday through most of the
weekend will aide to slow down of flooding, though it may take a
couple of days to see the full effect.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, Shoshone, Northern Lake Walcott, Paul,
Richfield, Minidoka, Dietrich, Acequia, Shoshone ice caves, Bear
Trap Airport, Kimama and Laidlaw Corrals Airport.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

* local law officials reported continued minor low land flooding
along the Raft River from the Utah line to the Snake River. Though
cooler temperatures are expected tonight through Friday, continued
snow melt is likely especially with several inches of snow in the
forecast. Snow will start this evening and continue through late
Thursday. Temperatures will gradually start to rise Saturday and
daytime temperatures will approach the 40s by Monday which will
aide melting.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Malta, Idahome and bridge.

Be cautious. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
