Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:05 AM HST Mar. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* flood advisory for...
the island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* until 1000 am HST

* at 703 am HST, radar indicated heavy rain falling at rates of 1 to
2 inches per hour along windward slopes of the Kau district.
Showers are expected to continue through late this morning.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
kawa flats, Pahala, Naalehu, Wood Valley, Punaluu beach, Hawaii
Volcanoes National Park, Waiohinu and discovery Harbour.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1000 am HST if heavy
rain persists.
