The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST this
evening. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing... noon through 6 PM.

* Winds... 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

* Impacts... areas of blowing dust will restrict visibility.
Vehicles on roads oriented north to south will experience
strong Crosswinds. Lightweight outdoor furniture or objects
can be blown around.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are
expected. Adjust travel and outdoor activities accordingly.

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am this morning to
8 PM CST this evening for the far southern Texas Panhandle and South
Plains of West Texas for 20 foot winds of 20 mph or
more... relative humidities of 15 percent or less and a high fire
danger...

Friday evening for the far southern Texas Panhandle and South
Plains of West Texas for 20 foot winds of 20 mph or
more... relative humidities of 15 percent or less and a high fire
danger...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a red flag
warning, which is in effect from 11 am to 8 PM CST Thursday. A
Fire Weather Watch is also in effect from Friday morning through
Friday evening.

* Wind... westerly winds at 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 55 mph this
afternoon. Northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph on Friday.

* Relative humidity... falling into the 5 to 10 percent range this
afternoon.

* Fuels... are dry to very dry.

* Impacts... any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning should be postponed until winds subside.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are imminent or already occurring. These conditions can create
rapid wildfire growth.
