... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday evening through
Saturday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from Thursday evening
through Saturday afternoon.

* Locations include the cities of... Cortez... Dove Creek...
Mancos... Durango... Bayfield... Ignacio... Pagosa Springs.

* Timing... a rain or a rain snow mix begins by Thursday afternoon
and changes to all snow Thursday evening. Moderate snowfall is
possible through Friday morning. A lull may occur through Friday
afternoon before the next storm arrives in the evening. Moderate
to heavy snowfall is possible through Saturday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 5 to 8 inches with locally higher amounts
possible.

* Snow level... near 6500 feet Thursday afternoon then lowering to
all elevations by Thursday evening.

* Winds... southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Impacts... roadways will be slushy to snow packed by Thursday evening
leading to winter driving conditions through the weekend.
Visibilities will be reduced to under a half of a mile a times
with moderate to heavy snow rates occurring.
