Watches & Warnings

Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 8:03 PM PST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 3 am PST Saturday...

* timing... a band of moderate to heavy showers will move into the
east Puget Sound lowlands by 9 PM and continue until about 1 am
late tonight.

* Location... the portion of the east Puget Sound lowlands closest
to the Cascades... including locations like North Bend...
Enumclaw... and Gold Bar. The proximity of the Cascades is
providing some upslope enhancement to the showers and is also
trapping cold air near the surface.

* Accumulation... an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow is likely
tonight with this band of showers. This will add to the heavy
snowfall totals that occurred today. Heaviest accumulations will
be at locations near the Cascades.

* Impacts... slippery roads that will make travel difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water N your vehicle in case of an emergency.
