Issued: 12:47 AM CDT Aug. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southern Comanche County in southwestern Oklahoma...
Garvin County in southern Oklahoma...
southern Grady County in central Oklahoma...
Stephens County in southern Oklahoma...
northern Cotton County in southwestern Oklahoma...
northwestern Carter County in southern Oklahoma...
north central Murray County in southern Oklahoma...

* until 345 am CDT

* at 1246 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lawton, Duncan, Pauls Valley, Marlow, Walters, Lindsay, Wynnewood,
Comanche, Stratford, Geronimo, Maysville, Bray, Elmore City, Velma,
Paoli, Chattanooga, Katie, Foster, Tatums and Faxon.

Additional rainfall of at least an inch is expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots. Turn around, don't drown.
