Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 1:37 PM PDT Mar. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Idaho and Washington, including the following
counties, in Idaho, Benewah, Bonner, boundary, Kootenai,
Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, and Shoshone. In Washington, Asotin,
Pend Oreille, Spokane, and Stevens.

* Through Friday morning

* additional rainfall amounts of fifteen hundredths to half an
inch of rain will be common over the Idaho Panhandle and the
eastern third of Washington through Thursday.

* Water tables are running high from the last few weeks of wet
weather and melting snow. Localized field flooding is already
occurring and is likely to worsen by Thursday morning. Small
streams and creeks will see increased flows. Saturated grounds
will also lead to potential mudslides in steep terrain.

* Paradise creek at Moscow will continue to be monitored as well
as any potential impacts to Whitman County. We are not expecting
any flooding issues at this time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
