Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:52 PM PST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch in effect from Monday afternoon through Wednesday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of north Idaho and the eastern third of
Washington. This includes the counties of, in north Idaho,
Benewah, Bonner, boundary, Kootenai, Latah, and Shoshone. In
Washington, Adams, Douglas, Ferry, Grant, Lincoln, Okanogan,
Pend Oreille, Spokane, and Stevens.

* From Monday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon

* milder temperatures and moderate rainfall are expected Monday
afternoon through Tuesday with higher snow levels. The increased
rainfall over the low level snow pack will lead to increased runoff,
ponding of water and poor drainage on the frozen ground. Sharp
rises on small stream and creeks are possible, along with the
threat of ice jams. Mudslides are also a concern in highly
sloped terrain. Several mainstream rivers across the eastern
third of Washington and north Idaho may see rises to bankfull
levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
