... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 10 PM PST this evening...
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for the east Puget Sound lowlands for snow and local
freezing rain... which is in effect until 10 PM PST this evening.
The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.
* Timing... snow showers will continue to move across the east
Puget Sound lowlands through this evening.
* Location... the portion of the east Puget Sound lowlands closest
to the Cascades... including locations like North Bend, Enumclaw,
and Gold Bar. The proximity of the Cascades is providing some
upslope enhancement to the showers and is also trapping cold air
near the surface.
* Accumulation... up to an additional 3 inches of snow is possible
near the Cascades through this evening with localized 6 to 8
inch accumulations. A weather spotter in North Bend has reported
4 and a half inches total so far.
* Impacts... slippery roads that will make travel difficult.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow or freezing
rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads
and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and
water N your vehicle in case of an emergency.
