... Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in effect above 2000 feet
from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 am PST Tuesday...
... Winter Weather Advisory for snow in effect above 1500 feet
from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 am PST Tuesday...

* snow accumulations... 3 to 9 inches above 2000 feet... with 1 to 3
inches between 1500 and 2000 feet. Higher peaks may see up to 1
foot.

* Timing... snow showers will develop this afternoon and continue
through Tuesday morning. Snow intensity is likely to peak and
snow levels will be the lowest around dawn Tuesday.

* Locations included in the warning... mainly rural locations in
the Kalmiopsis Wilderness and Highway 227 from Tiller to the
Umpqua Divide.

* Locations in the advisory... all the passes along Interstate 5
between Grants Pass and Roseburg including Sexton Summit and
Canyon Creek. Highway 199 near Hayes Hill is also included.

* Other locations... while snow may fall in lower locations such as
Grants Pass and Roseburg... little to no snow accumulation is
expected due to warm surfaces. Only isolated accumulations and
impacts are expected in these locations.

* Impacts... snow will cause travel difficulties on local
roads... including portions of Interstate 5. Higher and unplowed
rural roads may become impassable due to heavy snow.

* travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.

* If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets,
food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.

likely and poses a threat to life and property. Take protective
action now.
