Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:35 PM HST Dec. 3, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* all Hawaiian islands.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* the combination of deep tropical moisture and an unstable
airmass will allow for the potential for heavy showers and
thunderstorms across the state.

* Heavier downpours and thunderstorms could cause streams to
quickly overflow their banks... leading to flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued. Campers and hikers should
consider postponing their Outing until the weather is better.
High streams... as well as streams overflowing their banks... could
make conditions very dangerous.

245 PM HST Sat Dec 3 2016

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
the island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* until 545 PM HST

* at 241 PM HST... radar indicated heavy showers along the South
Shore and interior of Oahu producing rain rates of 2 to 3 inches
per hour. Additional heavy showers are expected through the
afternoon... creating hazardous driving conditions.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Honolulu... Kapolei... Waipahu... Mililani... Barbers Point... Kalihi...
Aiea... Kunia... Pearl City... Manoa... Waikele and Ewa Beach.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle... or on
foot. Turn around... don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 545 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect.
