Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Medford has downgraded the Winter
Storm Warning to a Winter Weather Advisory.

* Snow accumulations: 2 to 4 inches.

* Elevation: above 1500 feet.

* Timing: snow will continue through Saturday morning. Snowfall
rates will become moderate to heavy tonight, and snow may remain
on Road surfaces into Saturday morning.

* Locations in the advisory include: Highway 96 from Happy Camp to
Somes Bar, and the higher terrain of far western Siskiyou
County.

* Impacts... those traveling, working, or recreating in this area
will see difficult travel conditions as snowfall will create
slippery, snow covered roads, and reduce visibilities to less
than a half mile or less, at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* if you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets,
food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you..

* travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.

* The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

Special Statement
Issued: 2:48 PM PST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Potential for moderate to heavy snow for areas west of the
Cascades into the mountains and northern California Sunday
afternoon and night...

A strong storm is expected to produce moderate to heavy snow for
portions of the west side, the mountains, and in northern
California Sunday through Sunday night. Confidence has increased
that snow will occur, but uncertainty remains as to how much snow
will fall and how low snow levels will be.

The most likely locations for travel impacts will be Interstate 5
at Siskiyou Summit and the Lower Mountain passes between Grants
Pass and Canyonville, Highway 199 in the Illinois Valley, The
Mount Shasta area, Highway 89 east of Mount Shasta city and the
Cascades passes in Oregon.

The Rogue Valley may also be impacted by light snowfall late
Sunday.

Those planning to travel through southwest Oregon and northern
California Sunday through Sunday night should monitor forecasts
and plan accordingly.
