... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 PM this evening to
1 PM PST Thursday...
... Ice Storm Warning in effect from 10 PM this evening to 9 am
PST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued an Ice Storm
Warning... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 9 am PST
Thursday. A Winter Weather Advisory has also been issued. This
Winter Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect from 7 PM
this evening to 1 PM PST Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no
longer in effect.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 4 inches, except for 3 to 6 inches
south of Callahan and Sawyers Bar roads west of Etna.

* Ice accumulations... 0.05 to a tenth of an inch.

* Timing... light snow will begin early this evening, then the
chance for freezing rain and sleet begins later this evening and
persists through early Thursday morning. Ice should only occur
for an hour or two during that time... but may last longer in
some locations.

* Locations in the warning area include... Scott Valley... including
Fort Jones... Greenview... Etna and Callahan.

* Locations in the advisory area include... Sawyers Bar Road west
of Etna and Seiad Valley.

* Impacts... even a small amount of freezing rain and sleet can
produce extremely dangerous conditions on roads and walking
surfaces.

* Impacts... snow will cause travel difficulties on local roads...
including portions Sawyers Bar Road and Highway 3 south of
Callahan.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* stock emergency kit with tire chains... flashlight...
batteries... blankets... food... water... and medications.

* Plan now to avoid traveling during the storm.

* Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

* Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and
limited visibilities.

* See weather.Gov/Medford/cams for latest Road conditions.

* An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations
will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce will likely be severely impacted. If you
must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food and water in your vehicle
in case of an emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will likely
lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that add
to the danger.

* A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties.
