Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 2:31 AM PDT Mar. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement in effect from 7 am PDT this morning
through this evening...

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a beach
hazards statement for large shore breaks... increased risk of rip
currents... and increased chance of sneaker waves... which is in
effect from 7 am PDT this morning through this evening.

* Hazards... large shore breaks... rip currents... and sneaker waves.

* Timing... Tuesday sunrise to sunset.

* Location... coastline from Sonoma County south through Monterey
County. In particular west to northwest facing beaches
including but not limited to Ocean Beach... Montara State Beach
and Marina state beach.

* Potential impacts... large shore breaks could injure beachgoers.
Sneaker waves could knock unsuspecting people into the cold...
turbulent ocean. Rip currents could pull people out to sea.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazard statement means the potentially dangerous
conditions may exist on specific beaches. These hazards may
include large shore break... strong rip currents... and possibly
sneaker waves. All of which could be life threatening. Be sure to
always keep your eyes on the ocean.
