... Flood Warning extended until further notice... the Flood Warning
continues for
the Carmel river at Robles del Rio
* from late this evening until further notice
* at 09am Monday the stage was 6.7 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 8.5 feet
* forecast to rise above flood stage by late this evening and
continue to rise to near 10.4 feet by .
* At 11.0 feet... Hacienda Carmel residential development levee is
threatened. Moderate flooding of Golf courses and low lying homes
along the entire Carmel river. Homes in the Carmel lagoon area
begin to experience moderate flooding.
* At 10.0 feet... south side of Highway 1 bridge access becomes
inundated and impassable. Many low lying homes threatened along
the entire Carmel river. Low lying homes near Camp steffani
experience substantial flooding and homes near Schulte Road in
danger of flooding. Homes surrounding the Carmel lagoon area are
in danger of flooding.
* At 8.5 feet... low lying homes from Camp steffani to below Robles
del Rio will begin to flood. Old odello ranch near Carmel begins to
flood. Homes along paso Hondo and dampierre park subject to
flooding.

The National Weather Service in the San Francisco Bay area has issued
a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
northwestern Monterey County in central California...

* until 615 PM PST

* at 212 PM PST, the media and emergency managers reported active
flooding from Santa Rita creek in Bolsa Knolls. Although it is
not currently raining, the creek continues to rise in response to
earlier runoff episodes. Evacuations and sandbagging are taking
place.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Santa Rita and Bolsa Knolls.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Monterey County including Pinnacles National Park... North Bay
interior valleys... North Bay mountains... northern Monterey
Bay... northern Salinas valley/Hollister Valley and Carmel
Valley... San Francisco... San Francisco Bay shoreline... San
Francisco peninsula coast... Santa Clara Valley including San
Jose... Santa Cruz Mountains... Santa Lucia mountains and Los
Padres National Forest... southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur
coast and southern Salinas valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San
Antonio.

* Through late tonight

* a prolonged period of moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated
to fall on already saturated soils through Monday evening. This
will result in sharp rises on area creeks, streams and rivers and
will likely result in flooding.

* Impacts include enhanced runoff and associated flooding in low
lying areas and waterways, rising water levels and flooding on
area streams, creeks and rivers. Other impacts include increased
risk of rock/mud slides in steep terrain, downed trees and power
lines, and damaged to or washed out roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* timing... southeast winds increase through this morning and then
further intensify this afternoon. Strongest southerly winds
expected this afternoon and evening. Winds diminish late
tonight.

* Winds... sustained southerly winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45
mph. Winds increasing to 25 to 40 mph this afternoon and evening
with gusts to 60 mph.

* Impacts... winds may be strong enough to cause property damage.
Strong and gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Saturated soils will also
contribute to an increased risk of downed trees and powerlines.

Craft Advisory... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to
10 am PST Tuesday.

* Winds: southerly winds 25 to 35 kt with frequent gusts to 40
kt this afternoon and tonight.

* Seas: combined seas 6 to 13 ft dominant period 15 seconds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
