Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 8:19 AM PST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Hanford CA has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
central Fresno County in central California...
southern Tuolumne County in northern California...
western Mariposa County in central California...
central Madera County in central California...
central Tulare County in central California...

* until 415 PM PST Friday

* at 815 am PST, Doppler radar detected areas of heavy rain in
the Sierra foothills. This will cause a rise along small streams
with possible flooding today.

Additional rainfall of a half inch to 1.5 inches is likely in
the foothill region today.

Residents living near streams and creeks and other flood prone
areas should closely monitor water levels and be prepared to
move to higher ground should flooding become imminent. Flooding
is also possible on roads with possible washouts.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Small Craft Advisory, Gale Watch
Issued: 9:01 AM PST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 4 am PST
Saturday...
... Gale watch remains in effect from Saturday evening through
Sunday morning...

* winds: southwesterly winds 20 to 30 kt... gusts up to 45 kt in
the morning.

* Seas: combined seas 13 to 16 ft at 17 seconds... increasing to
19 to 22 ft at 17 seconds tonight.

* See the coastal waters forecast (cwfmtr) or our marine Page at
http://weather.Gov/sanfrancisco/marine.Php for more details.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

A gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased... but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.
