Watches & Warnings

High Wind Warning
Issued: 12:14 PM PDT Mar. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 am PDT Friday...

* winds and timing... areas of west to northwest winds 20 to 30 mph
with gusts to 45 mph will increase to 30 to 45 mph with gusts
to 65 mph this afternoon, then continue through late tonight
before diminishing. Winds will be strongest in western portions
of the valley and in the foothills.

* Impacts... winds this strong may down trees and power lines,
causing property damage or power outages. Cross winds can make
driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile
vehicles and vehicles towing trailers. Major Road that will be
affected include highways 14 and 138, especially near the
foothills. Patchy blowing dust will reduce visibilities to one
quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means that damaging high winds of 58 mph or
greater are likely or imminent. Secure all loose outdoor
furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Monitor the
latest forecasts on NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite media
source.
