... High surf advisory now in effect until 10 am PDT Saturday...

* surf... surf of 10 to 13 feet will continue at central coast
beaches through Friday then begin to diminish... but will
remain above advisory levels through Saturday morning. The
largest surf will be on west and northwest beaches.

* Impacts... large waves and strong rip currents will increase
the risk of ocean drowning for swimmers and surfers. Large
breaking waves can cause injury... wash people off beaches and
rocks... and capsize small boats nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

Issued: 12:14 PM PDT Mar. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this evening...

* winds and timing... areas of northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with
gusts to 45 mph will continue through the evening before
diminishing. Local gusts to 50 mph are likely. Winds will be
strongest near the coast and in higher terrain.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Major roads that will be
affected include highways 1 and 101, and state routes 154 and
246.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.

the Nipomo Mesa area. This air quality alert is in effect until 8 PM
PDT this evening.

Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health problems...
aggravate lung disease... cause asthma attacks and acute bronchitis...
and increase risk of respiratory infections.

Residents are advised to use caution as conditions warrant. People
with heart or lung disease should follow their doctors advice for
dealing with episodes of blowing dust.

Additionally... older adults and children should avoid prolonged
exposure... strenuous activity or heavy exertion... as conditions
dictate.
