Wind Advisory
Issued: 3:25 AM PDT Mar. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 4 PM
PDT Tuesday...

* affected area... eastern Riverside County, Joshua Tree National
Park, and northern Imperial County. This includes Interstate 10
from Blythe toward the Coachella Valley. The higher elevations
will likely see the strongest winds.

* Timing... this evening through Tuesday mid-afternoon.

* Winds... winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts generally up to 40 mph.
Gusts as high as 50 mph will be possible in Joshua Tree National
Park later tonight and early Tuesday.

* Impacts... strong Crosswinds initially affecting north/south
oriented roads this evening and then affecting east/west
oriented roads after midnight into Tuesday. Locally reduced
visibilities due to areas of blowing dust creating hazardous
driving conditions. High profile vehicles will be most susceptible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between
30 and 40 mph are expected, or wind gusts of between 40 and
58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles. In addition, strong winds over desert
areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under
a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra
caution.
