Watches & Warnings

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 1:01 PM PST Dec. 10, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 8 PM PST this evening
for strong gusty winds and low humidities...

* timing... winds gradually weakening this afternoon and evening.

* Winds... areas of east to northeast winds 20 to 35 mph with local
gusts to 50 mph and isolated gusts to 60 mph in San Diego County.

* Humidity... lowest daytime humidity of 5 to 10 percent.

* Location... strongest and most widespread winds from the Mountain
Ridge tops and along the coastal mountain slopes.

* Outlook... weak to occasionally moderate offshore flow for much
of this week with continuing low humidities for inland areas.

* Impacts... any fires will have extreme fire growth and be very
difficult or impossible to control. Avoid any activities that
could spark a fire!

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... .or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
