... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to
8 am PDT Friday...

* winds and timing... areas of west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts
to 40 mph will develop early this afternoon, the continue into
this evening, strongest on the west side of the island. Areas
of north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected
from this evening through early Friday morning.

* Impacts... gusty winds may knock down tree branches and
powerlines.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds.

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Friday
afternoon...

* hazards... dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves are
expected on west facing beaches due to elevated and strong
surf of 3 to 6 feet.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Sneaker
waves can suddenly wash people off of beaches and rock
jetties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution
should be used when in or near the water.
