Issued: 6:50 AM PDT Apr. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 9 am PDT
Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to
9 am PDT Thursday.

* Winds and timing... areas of northwest to north winds 15 to 25
mph with gusts to 35 mph will develop late this afternoon and
persist overnight. Isolated gusts to 40 mph will be possible
this evening. Strongest winds should occur from West Hollywood
to West Los Angeles towards Malibu.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Major roads that will be
affected include Interstate 405 and 10 in West Los Angeles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.

Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:48 AM PDT Apr. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Friday
evening...

* hazards... dangerous rip currents and breaking waves are
expected due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Local sets to 8
feet are possible. Highest surf is expected each afternoon and
evening on west-facing beaches.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks... and capsize small boats
nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
