Air Quality Alert
Issued: 5:02 PM PDT Jul. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Air quality advisory for wildfire smoke...

Wildfire smoke from the detwiler fire in Mariposa County remains
across Douglas County into Reno/Sparks and western portions of
Pershing, Churchill, and Mineral counties.

Afternoon winds are helping to disperse the smoke which is improving
visibility and air quality currently, however we do anticipate areas
of smoke and haze to remain across the region through tomorrow.

When the winds weaken overnight we could see another cycle of smoke
settling into the valleys with degraded air quality and low
visibility tonight and into Thursday morning. As such have extended
the air quality advisory into Thursday afternoon.

Due to elevated particulate pollution levels, children, the elderly,
people with heart or lung problems, or people with current illnesses
such as the flu, are advised to stay indoors and avoid strenuous
outdoor activities in the impacted areas. For the latest air quality
index please visit: www.Airnow.Gov
