... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Walker River near Mason.
* Until further notice.
* At 2:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Impact... at 10.8 feet... minor flooding of lowlands... pasture and
farmland adjacent to the river throughout the Mason
Valley-Yerington area. Some rural roads flood. Preventative
sandbagging of low structures in Mason and Yerington may be
necessary as river rises... but little flooding occurs. Some minor
flooding of basements and yards in Mason.

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
snowmelt in...
northern Mono County in northern California...
southern Lyon County in west central Nevada...

* until 1245 PM PDT Saturday

* releases from Bridgeport Reservoir will be increased today to make
room for additional high releases from Twin Lakes Reservoir
upstream. Flows below Bridgeport will lead to flooding of
agricultural areas, rural roads including but not limited to the
east Walker Road, and may impact property accesses.

* Specific impacts are highly uncertain, but be prepared for very
high flows and impacts to low lying areas around the river. These
flows along the east Walker will be the highest flows so far this
year and the highest flows experienced along this reach in over 15
years.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

... The flood advisory for snowmelt remains in effect until 315 PM PDT
Thursday for Douglas and central Lyon counties...

* flows will increase along the east Walker River due to increased
releases from Bridgeport Reservoir. This reach has been upgraded
to a Flood Warning. See that product for more details.

* On the west Walker River, elevated flows will continue through the
week and minor flooding in the lower parts of Antelope Valley is
expected to continue.

* High flows will also continue through Smith Valley and Wilson
Canyon, but no new impacts are expected in these areas. Flows
below the Topaz diversion will be impacted by any changes in water
management.

of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
