Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 2:39 PM PDT Jul. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Monday morning through Monday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Nevada, north central
Nevada, and south central Nevada, including the following
areas, in Nevada, White Pine County. In north central Nevada,
southern Lander County and southern Eureka County. In south
central Nevada, northeastern Nye County.

* From Monday morning through Monday evening.

* A strong push of monsoon moisture will deepen across central
Nevada on Monday. Very heavy rainfall will create an environment
supportive of flash flooding during the afternoon and evening.

* Areas most prone to flash flooding include small creeks and
streams in and near the higher terrain, wildfire burn scars, and
normally dry washes. Rock slides and debris/water flows over
roadways are possible. Low lying areas, where some roads are,
will be susceptible to flooding as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take
action should flash flood warnings be issued.
