... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 800 PM PDT
for central Clark County...

At 702 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated the core of the severe
thunderstorm has collapsed so expect the potential of damaging winds
in excess of 60 mph through 730 PM. This storm was located near
Railroad Pass... or near Boulder City. This storm was nearly
stationary.

Henderson... Boulder City... Las Vegas Bay... lake Las Vegas...
Boulder Beach campground... Callville Bay...
Callville Bay campground... Boulder Beach...
Las Vegas Bay campground and Railroad Pass.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This storm will produce high winds which can bring down trees and
power lines and cause blowing dust. Also... lightning can kill! Take
cover in a sturdy building and stay away from windows until the storm
passes. Report severe weather to the Las Vegas National Weather
Service via facebook or twitter.

Strong wind gusts and high waves can be expected! If on or near Lake
Mead... head to safe Harbor immediately or stay close to shore until

Excessive Heat Warning

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM PDT /8 PM
MST/ Friday...

* temperature... highs 110 to 115 in the Las Vegas Valley and the
Mojave Desert... 115 to 120 in the Colorado River valley and near
125 for Death Valley are expected. Low temperatures only falling
into the upper 80s or low 90s for most of the region.

* Impacts... an excessive heat warning means that a prolonged
period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. Heat
related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke will
be likely. People most vulnerable include those who are
spending lots of time outdoors... those who do not have air
conditioning... Young children... the elderly... and those with
chronic ailments.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Drink plenty of liquids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay
out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. If you
plan to be outside... avoid prolonged exposure or strenuous
physical activity and take frequent breaks in the shade.
Alcoholic and caffeinated beverages should be avoided. Wear light
weight... light colored... loose fitting clothing. Young children
and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances.
