* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Mohave County in northwestern Arizona...
eastern San Bernardino County in Southern California...
south central Clark County in southern Nevada...

* until 500 PM PDT/500 PM MST/

* at 1105 am PDT/1105 am MST/, Doppler radar and automated rain
gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the
warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly as
thunderstorms become more develop and work in from the north
across the area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bullhead City, Kingman, Laughlin, Mitchell caverns, Yucca, Highway
95 at mile marker 29, Topock, Wikieup, Cima, Katherine Landing,
Needles, Oatman, mid hills campground, Mojave ranch estates, Black
Canyon equestrian campground, Diamond M ranch, Big Bend rec area,
Highway 95 and I-40, Golden Valley and dw ranch Road.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 200 PM PDT/200 PM
MST/ for northern Mohave and south central Clark counties...

At 939 am PDT/939 am MST/, local fire reported flash flooding
occurring in Short Creek in Colorado City. Thunderstorms continued to
increase further south from Cottonwood Cove to Dolan Springs and
Chloride.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Colorado City, Searchlight, Windy Point Campground, Diamond Creek
campground, Cottonwood Cove campground, Mt. Trumbull, toroweap
campground, Packsaddle Campground, Chloride, Kaibab, bar ten ranch,
Valentine, pipe Spring, Dolan Springs, Cottonwood Cove, Cal-Nev-Ari,
new Kingman-Butler, Tuweep and Peach Springs. Stockton Hill Road,
Pierce Ferry, Antares, and Buck and doe roads will also be impacted.
Route 66 will likely also be impacted in the next couple of hours.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.

northeastern Clark County in southern Nevada...

* until 145 PM PDT

* at 1047 am PDT, gauge reports indicated runoff from earlier heavy
rain entering the Muddy river. Minor flooding is expected along
the Muddy river and adjacent low lying areas. .

* some locations that will experience flooding include...
Overton, Moapa town, Moapa Valley, sr 168 mile marker 21 and
Logandale.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

central Clark County in southern Nevada...

* until 130 PM PDT

* at 1023 am PDT, Clark County flood control reported runoff
entering the Las Vegas wash system from earlier heavy rain.
Flooding will occur in and near the Las Vegas wash over the next
few hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Floyd Lamb Park, Clark County wetlands, the club at sunrise Golf
course, and Sandstone Ridge park.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, washes, and other flood control facilities.

Stay away or be swept away. Flood channels and detention basins can
contain fast moving water capable of sweeping people away.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southern Nevada, including the following areas,
Las Vegas Valley, southern Clark County, and Spring Mountains-
Red Rock Canyon.

* Through this evening

* any thunderstorm that develops through this evening will be
capable of producing intense rainfall which could lead to flash
flooding in the watch area. Flooding of normally dry washes, low
water crossings, and poorly drained intersections are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in the watch area... you should closely monitor weather
forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should heavy
rain and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
