High Wind Warning
Issued: 2:10 AM MDT Apr. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect from noon today to 8 PM
MDT this evening...

* timing... winds will increase late this morning with maximum
winds occurring between 1 PM and 7 PM.

* Winds... west winds will have sustained speeds near 40 mph with
gusts between 50 and 60 mph.

trees and power lines over a few areas. The combination of
strong winds... warm temperatures and low humidity will cause
critical fire weather conditions.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 6:56 AM MDT Apr. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 8 PM MDT
this evening for strong winds and low relative humidities for
fire weather zones 055, 056, 111, 112, and 113...

* winds... west-southwest 25 to 40 mph with gusts over 50 mph.

* Humidity... 9 to 15 percent.

* Highest threat Tuesday... lowland locations south and east of a
line from Truth or Consequences to Deming to Animas.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
