Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 2:56 PM MDT Jun. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening...
... Heat advisory in effect from 2 PM to 7 PM MDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect through 7 PM MDT this evening.

* Location... west Central Plateau, mountains and highlands;
southwest mountains; San Francisco and lower Chama river
valleys.

* Timing... through early evening.

* Temperatures... lower elevation highs around 100 to 105 degrees,
except around 105 to 110 degrees across the Chaves County
plains. Highs mainly in the mid 90s in the mountains, with some
cooler readings over the highest terrain.

* Local impacts... very hot temperatures with rather low relative
humidity will increase the risk for dehydration and heat
related illnesses. Limit your exposure to the sun and shift
timing of outdoor activities to the morning and late evening
hours. Pets and livestock will also be impacted by these very
hot temperatures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
