Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 6:08 PM MDT Jul. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southwestern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
northeastern Torrance County in central New Mexico...

* until 815 PM MDT

* at 607 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. West of San Juan... .radar
indicates up to one and a half inches of rain has already fallen.

* Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern San
Miguel and northeastern Torrance counties.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 229 and 239.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not Camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in
steep... narrow canyons.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

The heavy rainfall and slow movement of these storms may result in
flooding of Road intersections and low-lying
areas. Waters may begin to run in normally dry arroyos.
