Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:21 PM MDT Aug. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* until 415 PM MDT

* at 219 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms southeast of Torreon Navajo
mission. These storms were drifting to the northeast. Radar
indicates around 1 inch of rain has fallen in less than 45
minutes... and heavy rain continues to fall. An additional inch of
rain is possible. This will create high water flows in Arroyo
Piedra Lumbre... Arroyo balcon... and Torreon wash.

* Locations impacted include...
Torreon Navajo mission.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
