Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:56 PM MDT Jul. 26, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* until 430 PM MDT

* at 252 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. These storms were located near
and to the east of Jemez Springs... including southern portions of
the Las Conchas burn scar. These storms were slowly drifting to
the south and may produce up to 1 inch of rainfall.

* Locations impacted include...
Jemez Springs... Jemez State Monument... Jemez Pueblo and Ponderosa.

This will impact the Las Conchas burn scar including but not limited
to Peralta Canyon... Bland Canyon... Forest service roads 266 and
268... medio de dia canyon... and Highway 4 from State Road 501
Junction to Las Conchas campground.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within
vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the
Las Conchas fire burn area.

Remember... ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.
