Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 8:45 AM MDT Aug. 27, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
Yavapai County in west central Arizona...

* until 1245 PM MST

* at 839 am MST... gauge reports indicated rapid rises of several
feet in the Agua Fria river... big bug creek... Turkey creekand
other area streams. Expect high flows to continue through the
morning... with significant impacts to low water crossings and
vulnerable areas near the washes and streams.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Dewey-Humboldt... Cordes Lakes... Bumble Bee... Cordes Junction...
Mayer... Poland Junction... Spring Valley...
Black Canyon City and Cordes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of
smallcreeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do
notattempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle
into areas where water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads... make the smart choice: turn around... don't drown.
